Community Engagement Worker (South Asian communities)

Salary: £22,777 per annum
Working hours: 35 hours per week
Contract length: Fixed term: 12-month contract 
Based at: Lock 50, Rochdale

Do you have bilingual skills to reach out to people from South Asian Communities in Rochdale?

We’re looking for two Community Engagement Workers, specialising in community engagement, to join our Living Well team in Rochdale. The role will primarily involve engaging with Rochdale’s South Asian community using community development skills.

You will develop and support community and volunteering led activities to encourage engagement and increase the uptake of cholesterol and blood pressure checks at GP surgeries. You will also be responsible for organising and promoting community events.

The role will involve gathering insights from local people to ensure barriers are addressed and services are accessible. You will raise awareness of the health risks associated with high cholesterol and high blood pressure and promote community members to take positive action in managing their cardiovascular health.

Based within a community, and supported by other neighbourhood-based agencies, the post holder will need to fully embed themselves within their identified community, developing a strong relationship network across residents, statutory partners, the VCSE sector and other stakeholders.

The role will involve recording data, follow-up and signposting for individuals who have not accessed their GP for a Health MOT. Training and support will be provided.
