Working in a caring profession can be a hugely rewarding experience, but repeated exposure to the traumatic experiences of others (in addition to high caseloads and the pressures of client-related admin) can take its toll – physically, emotionally and psychologically.

This course is designed for anyone whose work with service users could potentially have a negative impact on their wellbeing. The aim of the course is to help participants:

  • identify the signs, symptoms and causes of burnout and compassion fatigue,
  • develop strategies for building resilience,
  • find a healthy work-life balance,
  • enjoy a better quality of life.

What’s involved?

During the session we’ll look at:

  • What is self-care and why is it important?
  • Anxiety, stress, burnout and compassion fatigue – what they are and how to recognise them
  • Ways of assessing your quality of life and susceptibility to burnout and compassion fatigue
  • The seven pillars of self-care
