OPEN DOOR OFFERS EXPERT HELP TO FAMILIES AFFECTED BY AUTISMComments Off
Grimsby’s Open Door health and social care centre will be a hub of advice and information next week for families affected by Autism.
The event is being held for local people, who often do not know where to turn to for support.
Open Door, which runs its own specialist Autism support group for young adults with the condition, is hosting the event as part of North East Lincolnshire’s Autism strategic agenda.
The event will be held at Open Door, Albion Street on Thursday 26 February from 10am to 2pm.
Manager at Open Door Rob Baty said: “At Open Door we know from running our own support group that autism has a significant impact on not just the individual but also their families and their community.
“More and more children are being born with Autism, but it’s also being found that many older people struggle with degrees of autism throughout their lives affecting social skills, being able to understand other people and making themselves understood.”
The day is being put on by different agencies and support groups across North East Lincolnshire.
