TB Service.
TB is generally a disease of poverty and specific areas of the population are at heightened risk. Almost all cases of TB are preventable and almost all people with TB can be cured. North east Lincolnshire traditionally has low incidence figures. Unlike the national picture, North east Lincolnshire’s main target population are those with Alcohol dependency problems and /or those who are homeless.
The community service will be responsible for providing the following services:
- Support and treatment for those diagnosed with active or latent TB.
- Contact tracing for those index cases who have been diagnosed.
- Screening new entrants form countries where TB is endemic
- Advice to those planning to visit/live or work in High Risk/High Incidence areas.
Suitably trained professionals will provide this service across the geographic location of North East Lincolnshire both form the surgery premises in Freeman Street or in other suitable locations including patient’s homes as required.
