There is money to be made in old rope. (Well, not quite rope, but in phones, ink cartridges and stamps). Recycle, help the environment and raise money for The Trust.

Stamp Collecting

Here’s a simple way to raise money for The Trust. Keep all the stamps you get from cards and post, wait until you get a handful or more and then post them to: The Big Issue in the North Trust, STAMPS, Number Ten, 10 Swan Street, Manchester M4 5JN. Easy as that.

Recycle Ink Cartridges

Working in conjunction with Ink Again, The Big Issue in the North Trust is supporting an ink cartridge recycling scheme. Currently around 90% of printer cartridges are thrown away. Since each cartridge contains plastic, aluminium and assorted parts, that’s a lot of waste. The thrown away cartridges end up in landfill sites where they take around 1,000 years to biodegrade, or are incinerated, releasing harmful emissions into the air.

So why not do the world a favour and send in your empty cartridges for recycling? It doesn’t cost you a penny and for every cartridge you send, £1 is raised for The Big issue in the North Trust. Recycle Mobile Phones

The Big issue in the North Trust has teamed up with SHP Solutions to bring you a mobile phone recycling service that raises money for The Trust in the process. For every working phone they receive, SHP will send at least £2.50 to The Trust and for each broken phone they will donate at least 50p.

Once the phones are tested, SHP will ensure that over 95% are refurbished and reused either in the UK, or sent out to developing nations where people often can’t afford to buy new handsets.
