Homeless men and women from Manchester and the North-West joined the National Homeless People’s Panel aboard a red bus in Manchester City Centre, in a bid to highlight the issue of homelessness with prospective parliamentary candidates ahead of the forthcoming general election.

Since 1997 The Big Issue in the North has carried out an audit of its vendors. The audit pinpoints who our vendors are, how they became homeless, their education and employment history, housing situation, the problems they face, information on the health services they need/have access to and their perceptions. The audit allows us to make year on year comparisons, identify changes in situations and gaps in services. . Hard copies of the vendor audit for 2001 and 2002 are also available. The Kath Locke Centre aims to improve the health of its local community and reduce health inequalities. This campaign secured the right to vote for homeless people. It was launched with other Big Issues across the UK and an alliance of homeless charities.
01/08/1999 Drugs at the Sharp End

23/02/1999 Evaluation of the Kath Locke Maternity Project 1999
This report details an evaluation of a one-year pilot maternity service which was based in the Kath Locke Centre, in Hulme; an area of high socio-economic need in Manchester between 1987 and 1988. The project, funded by Manchester Health Authority and the Central Manchester Healthcare Trust, provided a midwifery-led service for 20 women who were identified as having ‘additional needs’, which might potentially disadvantage them within the standard maternity service.
