Bogus vendors

One of the greatest problems facing vendors of The Big Issue in the North is bogus vendors. These are people who use the magazine illegally as a front for begging. No one suffers more as a result of this than genuine vendors trying to work their way out of homelessness.

Quite often it is the behaviour of a few bogus vendors that tarnishes the reputations of people who are making positive steps to move on.

The Big Issue in the North works hard to tackle rogue vending. We work closely with the police and council and strongly urge the public to give their support by only buying from badged vendors. Our workers patrol the streets daily and encourage people who are begging to become vendors.
