Longsight Outreach Team

We have a team of Outreach Workers here at Sure Start Longsight Children’s Centre who work with children and parents to develop services within the Longsight area.

What does an Outreach Worker do?

The role of our Outreach Workers is to-

  • Encourage parent participation
  • Develop services (sessions, groups and activities) that meet the needs of families and children 0-5years
  • Develop links with existing community groups in order to indentify needs and maximise opportunities for families in the Longsight area
  • Register parents and promote Sure Start services, activities and events.
  • Help ensure that homes are safe for young children by carrying out Home Safety assessments

Case Studies from our Service Users

"I first heard about Sure Start when I received a letter of invitation at my home. I have now been accessing Sure Start for a year, I go to the Young Parents Group. This has given me confidence to do an ESOL and Maths course and I am hoping to do a Health & Social Care course in the future". Written by a young parent at SSCC in Longsight

"I first heard about Sure Start in November 2009 through my friend, I have attended the volunteer course which boosted my confidence and gave me skills like how to work with children. I now have a job as a lunch time organiser and want to become a Teaching Assistant". Written by a Sure Start Volunteer Longsight
